The purpose of laser hair reduction treatment is to destroy the hair follicles. For a successful result, specific form of energy and power is needed to reach the base of the hair follicles, without causing much damage to the surrounding skin.
The GentleMax Pro System is a dual wavelength laser platform that combines a fast and powerful 755nm Alexandrite laser and 1064nm Nd:YAG laser with proven results and patients satisfaction.
Hair removal lasers are most effective in the anagen phase, because this is when hair matrix cells are dividing rapidly, and melanin load is at its highest. They will then migrate from its shaft outward.
The anagen phases varies with body location. Not all of the hairs are at the same phase at any 1 time. Hence, laser treatment must be repeated to capture new hairs coming into the anagen phase.
The heat produced by the light are able to damage the tube-shaped sacs that produce hairs. This will inhibit or delay future hair growth.
How it work?
Laser handpiece is firmly place above the treatment area, and laser light will be emitted along with dynamic cooling spray to protect from epidermal overheating. Some patient may have prickling sensations during the treatment.
After treatment, most patient may feel mild sunburn sensation which lasts for 2-3 hours. Physical sunblock should be used at areas that are sun exposed.

Most patients find this laser hair removal more satisfying in terms of pain and results, comparing to the traditional waxing and IPL method.
Laser treatment is much more safe, effective and more targeted than IPL, hence fewer treatments are needed. In general, IPL has to be done more than 20-30 times, whereas laser is much lesser sessions needed, 6-8 sessions in general. If gel is applied by your practitioner or therapist prior to treatment, you are most likely getting an IPL rather than laser. Laser hair removal does not need any medium or gel applications onto the treatment area.

Anything to take note before the treatment?
There few things to take note before your laser hair removal treatment:
Dos:
- Patients are advised to shave 3 days prior to treatment.
Don’t:
- Sun tanning during or before treatment
- Do not pluck hairs for several weeks prior to treatment
- Do not sunbathe for several weeks or even months before the procedure.
After care:
- Do not wax, shave or dye on treated area for 2 weeks after procedure.
- Avoid sports and strenuous exercise for two days following the treatment for laser hair removal.
- Avoid very hot baths, showers, steam baths or saunas, and don’t swim in strong chlorinated water for two or three days.
- Don’t use bleaching creams or perfume products for 24 to 48 hours.
What result to expect?
After laser hair removal, the treated hair will not fall out immediately. They will start to fall out after 1-2 weeks. Laser hair does not guarantee permanent hair removal, but when the hair regrows, it is usually more fine and lighter in pigment.
Most clients experience hair growth inhibition or delay that lasts from 6 months to few years. Individual results may depend on genetics, race and location of the hair.
How many sessions are needed?
Usually laser hair removal requires 6-8 treatments, with intervals depending on location. Generally, it is repeated after 4-8 weeks.
Is there downtime / side effect?
Side effects are rare, but possibility increases if post care was not followed properly. These are such as mild swelling around the hair follicles. Some may experience light redness of the skin after treatment.
Pigment changes may occur, especially in those with darker skin. These changes are usually temporary.
