What is FUE hair transplantation / restoration?
FUE hair restoration is known as Follicular Unit Extraction of hair follicles. It is the most advanced technique or hair treatment for severe hair loss.
In some individuals, certain of them have bypass or have sudden severe hair loss, where normal hair treatment is in-effective anymore and therefore requires a combination treatment of FUE hair transplantation and our FIT Ozhean Signature Hair Meso.
Who is a suitable candidate for FUE?
It is recommended for individuals at any age and gender when there is hair loss. But of course it is STRONGLY encouraged to START EARLY! Before you decide to do FUE, our doctors will do a full health consultation to check whether you are a suitable candidate to do the procedure. And it is not a surgical procedure. No incision or surgical intervention will be done during the consultation!
How it works?
First step – Cleansing, design and marking
> The donor and recipient area of the patient will be identified and cleanse, to ensure that it is sterile.
Second step – Harvesting of the hair unit
> Usually the donor hair will be harvested from the back of the head, while the patient will be in a lying position
Final step – Implantation
> To implant the donor hair unit into the recipient site. The whole procedure will take a longer time, which usually needed one full day. But don’t be worried, there will be small resting breaks in between for both patient and doctor.
Is the result permanent?
Yes, the result is permanent! Basically, it is just moving your healthy hair unit into the bald area, a relocation of your hair. And it will be there to stay. The newly transplanted hair will continue to live on the recipient area of your choice!
FUE hair restoration are usually a one-off procedure, our doctors will assess the severity of your hair loss and your desired hair pattern you wish to restore. We will encourage patient to do at least 2,000 strands of hair minimally per-procedure. And after that you can maintain or enhance the result of your FUE treatment with other treatments we have. For FUE hair transplantation, the survival rate of the newly transplanted hair is usually capped at 70-80%.
Anything to take note after the treatment?
Post care after FUE procedure is the most important part of the treatment.
We will provide you with some antibiotics right after the treatment. During the first week, you are required to come back to us daily for observation, cleansing and shampoo-ing. There will be some minimal bleeding and serous discharge during the first few days after the treatment which is perfectly normal.
You must strictly not touch or attempt to touch the newly transplanted hair during the 1st week. Therefore, we will provide post care and washing service for the first week after the treatment. This enable our doctors to carefully monitor your condition as well.
Please do not use any other products or take other medication without the advice of your doctor. The necessary medications will be provided by us.
No heavy lifting, excessive exercise or any form of exercise that requires straining can be done during the first 2 weeks after the treatment. You are even encouraged to take more fibres and protein this time. Fibres are to prevent constipation and proteins are needed for recovery.
Strictly no sauna, swimming or any activity that requires you to be under sun for a long time during the first 2 weeks as well.
During sleep, it is advisable to sleep in a fixed position and with a U-shaped pillow for better support. There will be some minimal bleeding on the bandages usually after a night sleep, which is normal.
Please do not use any other products or take other medication without the advice of your doctor. The necessary medications will be provided by us.
Is there downtime / side effects?
There will be a downtime of at least 1 week for the wound to recover and after that during the first month you will have to be more caution in your lifestyle, especially regarding your daily activities if it involved any that were mentioned above.
There is no side effects post procedure. Just proper post care is needed, and you are strongly advised to strictly follow our doctor’s advice.
What are the risks of FUE Hair Restoration?
The main risks of FUE hair transplant is mainly folliculitis, which means the infection of the hair follicles. With proper care and antibiotics, this scenario is 99% preventable. Therefore, it is highly advisable to follow your doctor’s instructions.
Besides that, please do not attempt to do your own post care because it will affect your newly transplanted hair survival rate as well.
